ASTA/NJ Jasper String Quartet Festival

- Eight (pre-formed) middle school or high school student chamber ensembles
- General public at 1:00 p.m.*
9:45 • registration at the Wilf Middle School Common Room (follow signs to the last door on the left side of the Newark Academy Main Entrance)
10:00 • Jasper String Quartet plays for 5-10 minutes, and explains the process that goes into setting the tempo, articulation, and style of the music.
10:30 • Students break up into groups – 2 ensembles each – and go to 4 different classrooms. Parents can stay in the lounge, or join students if space permits. JSQ members each take a classroom, and spend 40-45 minutes with each ensemble, inviting the other ensemble members to join in the discussion.
12:30 • Lunch – Middle School Common Room – Sandwiches and water will be provided, or you may bring your own
12:45 • Registration for the free 1:00 performance/lecture
*1:00 • Middle School Common Room – JSQ plays a complete quartet (35-40 minutes) followed by Q&A. Students will know ahead of time what will be played, so that they can prepare their questions.
$65 for each performing student
