ASTA/NJ Jasper String Quartet Festival

For:     • Eight middle school or high school student chamber ensembles

            • General public at noon.*


8:45     registration at the Russell Lounge (follow signs)


9:00    Jasper String Quartet plays for 5-10 minutes, and explains the

            process that goes into setting the tempo, articulation, and style of the music.


9:30 - Students break up into groups - 2 quartets each - and go to 4 different

classrooms. Parents can stay in the lounge, or join students if space permits. JSQ members each take a classroom, and spend 40-45 minutes with each quartet, inviting the other quartet members to join in the discussion.


11:30  Lunch - Sandwiches and water will be available, or you may bring your own


*11:45- registration for the 1:00 performance/lecture


12:00- Recital Hall - JSQ plays a complete quartet (25-35 minutes) followed by

Q&A. Students will know ahead of time what will be played, so that they can prepare their questions.



            $60 for each performing student
